As we wrap up our year in time capsule news, country singing legend Dolly Parton is back in the headlines humorously revealing she can't stop thinking about wanting to go back with a shovel to get her secret time capsule song written to commemorate her future 30th Anniversary of DollyWorld's DreamMore Resort. Parton says she thinks about heading to the grounds of her resort, grabbing the song she wrote for the year 2045 and sing it for the world to hear, now. During an appearance last week on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Parton told the host, "You have no idea how that has bothered me. I wanna go dig that up so bad. It’s a really good song!"
Parton, age 76, told Clarkson it was an odd experience writing a song that would only be heard when she was 99 years old and her DreamMore resort would be celebrating its 30th year. Parton says, "I don't know if I'm going to be here or not, but...I put all the things that had to do with the times, I put a cassette player, and a CD player, I put all this stuff in this box - to preserve how we played those at the time, but I had to write this song that no one was going to hear until then." Even though the contents will be properly stored, Parton wonders if she has the patience to wait it out for the capsule's reveal because the song is so good. Clarkson encouraged her by saying, "I think that's beautiful, for people to do, like for their kids - make something for their kids. If you can't sing, make a video and have them unearth it at some point. I think thats's really special."
DreamMore opened in 2015. A year ago, when the time capsule was buried, Parton said staff had been specifically instructed not to open the capsule until 2045. Stay tuned!
